Why Use This Currency Converter?

Most currency converters lock you into one-to-one conversion or require an account for bulk lookups. This tool combines a free live-rate feed with a clean bulk view, so a traveler, freelancer, or e-commerce operator can see one number in every relevant currency at a glance, without signups or API keys.

Common use cases

  • Estimate trip costs in your home currency before booking flights or hotels
  • Quote a freelance project in client local currency while seeing your home-currency take
  • Compare e-commerce list prices across regional storefronts
  • Spot-check a remittance amount before sending money internationally
  • Plan a salary in a foreign offer letter against your current take-home
  • Build a pricing table for a SaaS product with regional currency rounding in mind

About the rates

  • Rates are fetched live from open.er-api.com
  • Source data is aggregated from central-bank publications and refreshed daily
  • A timestamp shown above the converter says when the current rates were published
  • Indicative only: interbank, card-network, and remittance rates may differ

Bulk mode

Switch to Bulk mode to enter many target currencies and see the converted amount for each one in a single table. Add or remove targets on the fly: the table updates as you type. Perfect for comparing how a fee, salary, or list price translates across markets.

When to refresh

The published rates update once per day, so the Refresh button only matters if you opened the page yesterday and the daily update has happened since. Otherwise the cached response is the freshest version available.

How cross-rates are computed

The provider returns USD-base rates. To convert from EUR to JPY, the tool divides the JPY/USD rate by the EUR/USD rate to get the EUR/JPY cross-rate. This is the same calculation banks use under the hood.

Pro tips

Tips & best practices

Use Bulk mode for shopping abroad

Add the currencies of every region you might buy in, type a single budget figure, and see all targets at once.

Indicative, not transactional

Banks and card networks add a margin (often 1-3%) on top of the published rate. Build that into any estimate.

Stable currencies first

For volatile currencies (e.g. ARS, TRY, EGP) the daily rate may already be stale by mid-afternoon: verify with a real-time source before transacting.

Round sensibly

JPY and KRW have no minor unit. The tool already formats with the right decimals, but keep that in mind when copying numbers.

Swap to verify

Use the swap button to convert back the other way: the round-trip should be very close to your original amount minus rate-noise.

Built for trust

Privacy & security

The tool fetches a single USD-base rates table once per page load, then performs every conversion locally in your browser. Your amounts, source, and target currencies never leave your device. The backend used for the rate fetch enforces SSRF, size, and timeout caps.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the exchange rates?

Rates come from open.er-api.com, which aggregates published central-bank rates and refreshes daily. They are accurate as a reference, but interbank, card-network, and remittance services typically add a 1-3% margin on top. Always confirm the actual rate before transacting large amounts.

How often do the rates update?

Once per day. The "Rates updated" timestamp at the top of the converter shows when the current dataset was published. Pressing Refresh re-fetches the same daily file.

Which currencies are supported?

All 160+ currencies in the open.er-api.com USD-base feed, covering every major and most minor currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, INR, CNY, CAD, AUD, BRL, ZAR, AED, and many more.

What does Bulk mode do?

Bulk mode lets you compute the same amount in multiple target currencies at once. Add or remove target codes on the fly: the table updates instantly. It is useful for travel planning, e-commerce pricing, and salary comparisons across markets.

How are cross-rates computed?

The provider returns rates with USD as the base. To convert EUR to JPY, the tool divides JPY/USD by EUR/USD to derive the EUR/JPY cross-rate. This is the standard cross-rate calculation.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The tool fetches one USD-base rates table on load (through our SSRF-safe backend), then runs every conversion locally in your browser. Amounts and target currencies never leave your device.
